EYE SPY e-MAGAZINE AND APP
Welcome to this brief overview of Eye Spy Intelligence Magazine -
issue 78.
I’m happy to report Eye Spy’s fantastic electronic edition will soon
be available for the iPad, iPhone and Smartphones. We’ve had
literally thousands of requests for such a magazine from readers
across the world, thus our team has worked tirelessly over the last
year to create, what I consider, a first class copy. However, this
is no ordinary magazine. The electronic version has films,
background information, additional files and a plethora of
inter-active media. Look out for the launch date via our web site.
And as an addition to our product range, readers will also soon be
able to download Eye Spy’s exciting new App.
_________________________________________________________________________________________
It’s been an eventful few weeks on the intelligence front since our
last edition. Incidents in Afghanistan and the Middle East have once
again dominated our television screens and other news media. On a
military front, the Taliban killed six British soldiers (five from
the Yorkshire Regiment) in a cowardly IED attack against their
vehicle: the enormity of the blast surprising many intelligence
watchers. Taliban agents have also been responsible for the shooting
dead of NATO intel people and military figures inside supposed
secure areas of Kabul. One can only image trouble for the
Afghanistan government when NATO forces
depart in a few years time. I’ve no doubt, however, that a powerful
intelligence element will remain - watching the situation.
As for the Taliban itself, made up of a mosaic of groups from various tribal areas and foreign-based outfits, they are already making plans and forging contacts with officials. Some ill-informed people insist talks with the Taliban should already be taking place. If it was so simple. The fragmented nature of the Taliban means that whilst some individuals and gangs are happy to sit down and discuss the fighting, others are not. And few commentators care to admit several of these groups or factions, are supported by foreign governments, including Iran. Operating amidst this most complex situation - troops such as the British unit above which failed to return from their routine patrol. Western and NATO officials have some tough decisions to make.
Meanwhile, the “nuclear situation” in Iran remains tense, with yet the assassination of another scientist. Iran, however, has hit back targeting Israeli diplomats in three foreign countries. These case files are examined in this edition.
Intelligence gathering in Syria has increased, this as the civilian
death toll rises to almost ten thousand. It is a dire situation
which the international community seems unable to control, this
despite intense diplomatic efforts from Arab countries led by the
UAE. President Assad, backed by Russia and his powerful army, shows
no sign of stepping down. Nevertheless, it’s my understanding an
intelligence assessment created in Washington, has predicted his
fall by the end of the year. We shall see.
Al-Qaida remains a potent force and its prowess is on the increase in parts of Africa and the Middle East. Some governments there have requested the assistance of US and UK Special Forces to tackle the terror outfit. The successful outcome of a US Navy SEAL operation against an AQ-backed pirate gang is highlighted in the magazine. In this case two hostages were rescued. Not so fortunate were Chris McManus, a British engineer and Franco Lamolinara, an Italian. The men were kidnapped by al-Qaida (Boko Haram franchise) in Nigeria last May. An SBS (Special Boat Service) operation to rescue the men followed a lengthy surveillance operation. Mr McManus and Mr Lamolinara sadly died in the resultant fight to free them. These events reflect accurately the dangerous landscape where intelligence gathering and military operations are necessary.

A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF EYE SPY INTELLIGENCE
MAGAZINE - ISSUE 78 FOLLOWS...
TRINITY BREACH
RUSSIAN INTELLIGENCE PENETRATES INTEL FUSION BASE
Canada’s Arctic intentions and security plans exposed as navy intel
officer arrested following ‘mystery’ departure of Russian diplomats
from Ottawa
A 40-year-old Canadian naval intelligence analyst and long-time
staffer has been charged with espionage. Sub-Lt. Jeffrey Paul
Delisle was arrested
by security officials who now fear he could have been supplying a
Russian agent with hugely important material for the last four or
five years. Eye Spy examines the wider implications of the case and
reveals the secret intelligence battle being played out between
Russia and Canada - this as both countries lay claim to much of the
important Arctic.
MI6 SOUTH ATLANTIC WATCHERS
INTEL WARNING AS ARGENTINA EYES FALKLAND ISLANDS CAPTURE
As Argentina’s President Cristina de Kirchner ramps up
the rhetoric over the strategically important Antarctica gateway
islands, Eye Spy presents evidence showing how MI6 and Royal Navy

of the Falklands war nears

THE IRAN FILES
DEEP BLACK:
TOOLS OF INTELLIGENCE CONTROL AS ALLEGED IRANIAN FRONT
COMPANY DISAPPEARS FROM SKY NEWS PLATFORM
Eye Spy is aware of several media organisations that are perceived
to be little more than conduits of powerful intelligence services
and government media sections. However, proving as much is a legal
minefield and as complex as any investigation tackled by our
analysts. Nevertheless, as revealed in several major features in Eye
Spy, most intelligence organisations, including MI6 and the CIA,
have in the past created ‘front offices’ and companies to help issue
comment or influence public opinion. Iran’s intelligence network is
no different. Over three decades ago its intelligence workers
learned much from their close association with the CIA and MI6 -
this when the country was a major Middle East ally. The situation is
very different today and the threat of a major conflict in the
region looms.
A fascinating insight into the UK decision to remove one of Iran’s
most popular news stations from the BSKY platform...
A FEARFUL MOVING DISTRACTION
ANOTHER IRANIAN SCIENTIST ASSASSINATED
As a senior scientist involved in Iran’s nuclear programme is
assassinated in Tehran magnet bomb attack, Eye Spy examines the
numerous situations and sub-plots that are evolving - some of which
could yet ignite a chilling conflict that will affect everyone... On
the morning of 11 January 2012, a motorcyclist assassin riding
pillion attached at least one magnetic bomb to a Peugeot 405
travelling towards a university in Tehran. As the riders accelerated
away in rush hour traffic, two explosions followed and within
seconds the vehicle came to a halt. Behind the car door was a senior
Iranian scientist attached to the country’s nuclear research
programme - 32- year-old Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, the deputy director
of Iran’s uranium enrichment facility at Natanz. Alongside Roshan,
and still alive,
was his security minder, Reza Qashaqei. He died later. In this
information-packed feature, Eye Spy continues its coverage of these
disturbing events and presents further information on several lesser
known assassination cases. These seem inextricably linked to Iran’s
nuclear ambitions.
SEAL TEAM 6 SWDG
US SPECIAL FORCES CREATING THEIR OWN LEGEND
Members of SEAL Team 6 (Special Warfare Development Group), have
been active again, this after a daring operation to free two
hostages from an al-Qaida backed pirate group. Eye Spy reports on
this mission and why many analysts now consider this Special Forces
element to be the best covert and
overt fighting force in the world.
CODENAME: AMIR
GEVORK ANDREYEYEVICH VARTANYAN
One of the KGB’s most famous WWII and Cold War spies has died at the
age of 87. Gevork Andreyevich Vartanyan, the son of an Iranian
businessman, is perhaps best known for his wartime exploits which
helped thwart a daring 1943 German plot to assassinate the three
great Allied leaders at a summit
(code-named Eureka) in Tehran. A fascinating feature which provides
a revealing insight into the mind of this brilliant spy and casts
doubt on one important aspect of the assassination operation
code-named ‘Long Jump’.
ASIAN SPY GAMES
LIBYAN GHOSTS COME BACK TO HAUNT MI6 AND CIA
Hong Kong, the former ‘jewel’ in Britain’s Far East Empire has been
named as the location where MI6 allegedly provided information about
a Libyan wanted by
Colonel Gaddafi. The suspect was subsequently watched and detained,
flown to Libya and allegedly tortured... now he is suing the UK and
an ex-MI6 man...
SECRET CIA AGENT?
‘HERO’ PAKISTAN DOCTOR ACCUSED
OF STATE TREASON
Pakistan state prosecutors have accused a doctor of acting on behalf
on a foreign country - this in relation to part of the CIA’s
undercover surveillance of Osama bin-Laden’s compound in Abbottabad.
THE WORLD OF COUNTER-TERRORISM AND INTELLIGENCE - PART 2
• CONTACT • CREATION • INSURGENCY
EYE SPY’S UNMISSABLE SERIES CONTINUES
Most terror groups publicly announce they are fighting for a cause
and therefore acts of bloody violence, hijacking, kidnapping,
robbery or criminality can be justified. From anarchists, to
militias, right and left wing groups, resistance movements,
revolutionaries and even single person or issue terrorists, the
catch all “umbrella of terrorism” is full of quests, explanations
and reasons for motivation. This “catch all” phrase remains as
relevant today as ever. And just as
important, what actions really constitute terrorism and how does one
differentiate an insurgency from a terrorist quest?
EXTRACT:
OBJECTIVES AND OPTIONS
Terrorism (in all its forms) is nearly always premeditated.
Associated violence is often committed to gain a political or
military advantage and/or influence people and government. This is
why a terrorist attack cannot be categorised simply as a crime. A
good case example is the 2004 Madrid train bombings.
Here a series of coordinated attacks killed 191 people and injured
over 1,500. Al-Qaida’s Spanish element deliberately carried out the
bombings just three days prior to the country’s general election.
The terror group (and many Spaniards) blamed the government for
involving Spanish troops in the Iraq War.
Huge public demonstrations followed, the government lost the
election, and shortly thereafter a statement was issued from Madrid
announcing Spain was withdrawing its troops.
The file highlighted here has been simplified, but for those who
planned the attack, they earnestly believed a positive outcome had
been achieved. Indeed, despite the capture and conviction of a
number of people responsible for the atrocity, many intelligence,
military and political officials believed the terrorists had scored
a huge victory, albeit a soft one....
