The Homeguard Micro-I was designed specifically to meet the needs of customers who desire a simple, yet dependable surveillance solution. The Homeguard Micro-I is superb for users who have absolutely no technical skill or are frightened to death by the sight of cables, transmitters and receivers!

This powerful device requires no video recorder, tapes, software or exterior power source. To operate simply place the Micro-I where you wish to capture video and it will automatically digitally record fast-action snapshots or video when motion is detected. You can also leave the unit in continuous 'play mode', though in a closed environment (office etc.) this rather defeats the object of its motion sensor. The unit can be operated from the mains. A mount is also included that allows you to fasten the unit to a wall.

The motion detection mode is fully adjustable and its sensitivity levels can be heightened or lowered with ease. You can then simply playback the recording on your television or monitor. Once on screen, if you want to save the recording, simply record on to a video tape.

Homeguard Micro-I is basically a high-resolution colour camera with 64Mb Flash RAM for motion or constant recording at 640 x 480 or 320 x 240. The picture quality is excellent.

We found the unit discreet, stylish and self-contained. Moreover, its size and design gives the appearance of an air freshener or similar. Few persons entering a room or office would suspect the device is a long-play covert camera.

What makes this recorder more advantageous than a pinhole unit or one that is covertly operated, is the fact that the user can take the system outdoors with astonishing ease. There are no wires or transmitters required. Its size and operation makes it an ideal portable surveillance tool. For vehicle or household surveillance it's terrific, especially if it is not practical for the operative to sit waiting for hours on end. Simply leave the unit on the dashboard or rear windscreen and direct towards the location under observance. Beware its battery-life. An alkaline battery will only provide about six hours of recording time if used constantly, thus we would always advise leaving Homeguard Micro-I in detection mode. It has a date and time display affording accurate readings - so each image clip or recorded video footage can be analysed. For those running businesses or offices, Homeguard Micro-I has multiple uses and, in certain cases, does away with the need for expensive surveillance systems. Those intent on crime or other illegal activities, tend to seek out cameras positioned in room corners; this unit can be placed anywhere and will not attract attention. 

It's easy to operate and with its user friendly OSD (on screen display) menu you'll be set-up in no time. The applications for this device are endless. The only drawback is that it requires fairly good light. In dark areas the unit struggles, so the rule of thumb for operating Homeguard Micro-I is - 'the brighter the better.'  With a video-capture card in your computer you can link immediately and make changes to the setup menu, otherwise your television will allow adjustments just as easily. Just remember to use Homeguard Micro-I in a place where there's good light and you'll have no problems. For the price and for its intended purpose, you can't purchase a better system today. It's size belies its performance.
