The Activity Continued....
"It is not only the case where the Israelis were found to be in the same location as the Saudi cells. According to the DEA report, another Israeli team operating out of Hollywood, Florida, led by team leader Hanan Serfaty lived at 4220 Sheridan St., #303, Hollywood, Florida 33021 (Emerald Green Apartments) while the Saudi hijackers Khalid Al Midhar, Abdulaziz al Omari, Walid Al Shehri, and UAE national Marwan al Shehri, operated from a maildrop at Mailbox Rentals, 3389 Sheridan St. #256, Hollywood, Florida 33021-3608. Another Serfaty residence at 701 S 21st Ave., Hollywood was located near the homes of Atta and Al Shehri, including a residence on Jackson Street, just a few blocks away, and the Bimini Motel Apartments, Apt. 8, at 1600 North Ocean Drive. On September7, just days before the terrorist attack, Atta and Al Shehri spent several hours at Shuckums Oyster Bar and Grill at 1814 Harrison St., just blocks away from Serfaty's 21st Ave residence. A Miami based Israeli unit, led by Legum Yochai, operated from 13753 SW 90th Ave., Miami, while hijacker Al Sheehri lived at nearby Horizons Apartments, 8025 SW 107th Ave."
According to both the US government report and many sources throughout the country, the US Air Force issued an alert from Tinker Air Force Base, in Oklahoma City, on 30 April, 2001, warning of "intelligence collection by Israeli art students." Other law enforcement offices had similar alerts. This highly organised and efficient network sent alarm bells ringing throughout the counterintelligence community. Some of the students were experts in wiretaps and electronic interception and there are indications that they benefited from Israeli telecommunications and software contracts with sensitive US companies.
These incidents were in the months leading up to 11 September 2001. During that same period we were all receiving frantic calls from sources in for increased vigilance, and that all indications the Middle East that the CIA were ignoring calls pointed to a terrorist attack involving one or more passenger planes on the Eastern Seaboard was imminent. Unlike the FBI and CIA we in the intelligence media had no knowledge of the huge Israeli espionage operation that was occurring across the United States.
What has infuriated many people in America is that while the FBI were conducting wholesale arrests, and imprisonment without trial, or indictment, of Arabs and Muslims, who may have knowledge of the terrorist attacks, the Israeli suspects were allowed to quietly slip back to Israel. It also appears that the questions that should have been asked of these art students, under interrogation, were blocked by political pressure from Washington, despite clear evidence from multiple sources that they were involved in some sort of illegal activity. It also appears that the remains of the net, those having many of the answers to the questions that Congress and the media should have been asking, were whisked to the safety of Tel Aviv hours after the attack on 11 September.
The issue here is not that Israel mounted a well prepared and executed intelligence gathering operation, but that someone, somewhere, seems to have known a lot more about ë9/11í than the public have been led to believe. Did Israel share their intelligence with the US, or was it kept quiet to protect their massive operation? The disturbing alternative is either the US leadership, US law enforcement, or the US intelligence community were asleep at the switch, incompetent, or deliberately withheld information that would have saved 2900 lives and the heart of a nation for political purposes. Had this story not been supported by leaked official reports, multiple interviews with law enforcement agents, and a highly visible campaign to suppress all mention of the incidents in the media, it could easily have been dismissed as another conspiracy fable.
We have been driven down the road like sheep, our attention focused on looking for bin-Laden hiding in the caves of remote Afghanistan. But now it is time to ask what was known, by whom and when. If there is nothing to hide let us have these students in open court, under oath to explain their activities. But how can we ? They were quickly whisked back to Israel.
Bet you can't find any of them in an art college!
One of the most
interesting aspects of the Israeli spy case concerns
a group of five Israelis arrested in New Jersey
shortly after the September 11 attacks and held for
more than two months. The five men worked for a
removal company with few discernable assets that
closed up shop immediately afterward and whose owner
them fled to Israel. The FBI questioned the
company's owner, Mr Dominik Suter once. However, he
left the country afterward and went back to Israel
before further questioning.
FBI agents searched the warehouse of Urban Moving Systems in Weehawken, N.J., seizing 12 computer hard drives and documents. The warehouse was closed three days later, said Ron George, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Division of Consumer Affairs.
end of a lengthy FBI investigation, senior officials
were satisfied that the men were part of a Mossad
surveillance mission and that their employer, served
simply as a front. After their arrest, the men were
held in detention for 10 weeks and deported at the
end of November. The official reason was 'visa
However, the investigation by the FBI concluded that at least two of them were in fact Mossad operatives, according to a former government official, who said he was regularly briefed on the investigation by two separate law enforcement officials.
The assessment was that Urban Moving Systems was a front for the Mossad and operatives employed by it he said. The conclusion of the FBI was that they were spying on local Arabs but that they could leave because they did not know anything about 9/11.
FBI, were however, very irritated because it was a
case of so-called unilateral espionage, meaning they
didn't know about it. Officially Washington and Tel
Aviv deny a spy ring was operating, but the US
source said that when American authorities
confronted the Israeli government on the issue at
the end of last year, they acknowledged the
operation and apologised for not coordinating it
The Israeli intelligence team have been named as Sivan and Paul Kurzberg, Oded Ellner, Omer Marmari and Yaron Shmuel. They were arrested just eight hours after the 11 September atrocity by New Jersey police while driving in an Urban Moving Systems van. The police apparently acted on an FBI alert after the men allegedly were seen acting strangely. Witnesses said they observed the events from the roof of their warehouse and the roof of their van.
The police were even more suspicious when they discovered a box cutter and $4,000 in cash in the van. One suspect also held two passports and another already had photographs of the men standing with the burning wreckage of the World Trade Center in the background.
Detained in the high-security Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn in solitary confinement until mid-October, the men eventually signed papers acknowledging violations of immigration law. At the end of October, the INS issued a deportation order which was enforced a month later after a review by the Justice Department and prodding by Jewish and Israeli officials.
The former official said, this is just the official story. The men were in fact identified on a CIA-FBI database of foreign intelligence operatives. The intelligence source said the FBI headed the probe and launched a foreign counterintelligence Investigation, or FCI.
Attacks such as those carried out on 11 September, attacks are usually investigated by the FBI's counterterrorism division, not its counterintelligence division.
An FCI means not only that it was serious but also that it was handled at a very high level and very tightly,î the former official said. That view was echoed by several former FBI officials who were interviewed.
Steven Gordon, a US solicitor hired by the families to help secure the mens release, said he could not confirm which FBI division was in charge of the investigation. But he did say there were a lot of people involved, including counterintelligence officials from the FBI.
The Israelis all underwent at least two polygraph tests each; unusually, one took seven tests.
